Sandwell Council has announced a road improvement scheme at the junction of Warley Road and Basons Lane in Oldbury. Expected to start on Monday, May 19, the work will last for around 12 weeks.
The council said it will include the installation of new traffic signals with pedestrian crossing facilities to control traffic through the junction.
This will improve road safety and access for all pedestrians and especially school children walking to schools in the local area.

There will also be associated infrastructure work including ducting, kerbing, drainage, carriageway surfacing and the removal of the existing zebra crossing facility.
Temporary traffic signals and lane closures will be in operation during the works and there may also be some temporary road closures towards the end of the works whilst the carriageway surfacing is carried out.
Councillor Keith Allcock, Sandwell Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Highways, said: “This is a positive road safety project which is just one part of our wider road safety programme.
“Improvement projects such as this have been instrumental in lowering traffic related injuries and have helped to reduce total road casualties in Sandwell by nearly 50% in the last 20 years.”
The project will cost £300,000 and funding has been made available through the Local Network Improvement Programme (LNIP) to improve road safety at the junction.
Haystoun Construction Ltd have been awarded the contract.
