Five crews attended the fire, fuelled by a pile of wooden pallets, in Regina Drive, behind the centre in Perry Barr.

They got to the scene yesterday at 7.33pm, leaving at 9.49pm.

Crews returned in the morning to check on the damage.

West Midlands Fire Service is investigating the cause of the fire, which sent large plumes of smoke and could be seen from Birmingham city centre.

The One Stop Shopping Centre was built in 1990.

The 28-acre site is off the Walsall Road.

Among its tenants are Wilko, Nike, Asda, Boots and Sports Direct
