Fire sweeps through derelict office block in Old Hill
A fire which broke out on the first floor of a two-storey derelict office block saw crews working to tackle the blaze.
Firefighters from Oldbury Fire, Haden Cross and Tipton Fire braved wet and testing conditions to put the fire out at the building in Cox's Lane, Old Hill.
Crews took to the scene after receiving a call shortly after 7pm on Friday and used a hydraulic platform to help distinguish the flames.
After spending nearly two hours working on the old and battered building firefighters left the scene shortly before 9pm.
A return inspection was made shortly after midnight where a thermal imaging camera detected no hot spots.
A West Midlands Fire spokesperson said: "There is nothing to say it was arson.
"It was a fire on the first floor of a two-storey traditionally built derelict office block. Two hose reel jets and one main jet were used.
"It is all closed now. They went back out at just after midnight and carried out an inspection using a thermal imaging camera and no hot spots were found so the incident was closed."
