Long-running M5 roadworks expected to finish in autumn
A long-running motorway roadworks scheme which has caused misery for motorists is still expected to be completed by the autumn.
The work at the Oldbury viaduct on the M5 has been edging towards completion over recent months, with a contraflow having been removed.
Restrictions still remain in place but Highways England said it hoped traffic would be flowing normally by the autumn, though a firm date has not been given.
Some overnight lane closures are expected afterwards for the testing of new overhead signs and equipment.
The work has been ongoing between Junctions 1 and 2 since 2017 and caused huge disruption.
Two lanes of traffic have been running in either direction at 30mph, though the speed has now been increased to 40mph.
The £100 million project is the most expensive and one of the largest ever carried out on UK motorways.
