The event at West Bromwich Town Hall yesterday brought together different groups and organisations from across the borough.

It celebrated 'the kindness and compassion of the people and services' of the borough, according to one of the event's organiser.

From Caribbean steel pans to a wandering troubadour, poet and storyteller and from a guided meditation walk to hula hooping – there was a mix of activities on offer for all those who attended.

Event co-ordinator Richard Flatley said: "By running this event we brought people together to honour the kindness and compassion of the people and services of Sandwell."

Councillor Syeda Khatun, Sandwell Council's deputy leader and cabinet member for neighbourhoods and communities, said: "This was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate all things Sandwell and for people to find out more about local services and community groups.

"We are very proud of Sandwell's thriving community and voluntary sector and encourage people who came along learned more about the wide range of support available across the borough."

Stands at the event, which ran from 10am to 4pm, promoted local services and community groups.
