Former Stourbridge MP Suzanne Webb said she was delighted to have been appointed as organiser of the town's appeal.

"This is a voluntary role that I won't be undertaking alone, as I hope to bring a few more new faces to the legion to support the appeal and other events," she said.

There would also be help from local cadet groups, businesses and stalwarts of the community such as Dave Spruce, who organises the Stourbridge Military Vehicle Parade.

"Throughout my life, I have supported the RBL, particularly when I served as the MP for Stourbridge," she said.

"It was a no-brainer when I was asked to take on this vital role," she said.

Miss Webb, who was Conservative MP for the town from 2019 until last July's election, said the Stourbridge Royal British Legion branch was 'alive and kicking', despite losing its premises on Enville Street.

"It is there to continue the vital voluntary work that supports ex-service personnel and their families in Stourbridge.

Her first public appearance in the role will be at Stourbridge Carnival on July 6, and said a drive to recruit more volunteers would begin soon.
