Appeal launched after man found seriously injured following BMW crash
Police are hunting for the occupants of a BMW that careered into a wall during a crash in the early hours.
It is thought likely that a man found seriously injured nearby was one of those in the BMW 318 when the driver lost control on Stourbridge Road, Lye, close to the junction with Timmis Road.
It is unclear how many people were in the vehicle at the time.
It also smashed into a telecommunications box holding cabling for the internet and at least two parked cars.
Nobody other than those in the vehicle were reported as being injured.
Police were called to the scene at around 1.10am today.
The seriously injured man was found in nearby Lewis Road soon afterwards and taken to hospital for treatment.
There is no suggestion that the BMW had been reported as stolen.
The road was closed while emergency services established the circumstances of the collision.
Resident Roger Pitt, aged 66, who has lived on Stourbridge Road for 50 years, said: “I got up in the early hours of the morning and the road was cordoned off.
“There must have been a dozen police vehicles.
“There has been a number of incidents on this road. There was one where someone came down and the car flipped completely over.
“It is not an isolated incident. It is the third one or more in the last two to three years.
“I have only heard of one bloke getting out of the car and holding his head.
“The police were certainly make a big issue of it. They had got cones out and there was a policeman with a tripod and special camera.
“It certainly was not a normal crash, especially in the early hours of the morning.”
West Midlands Police spokeswoman, Lara Horsely, said: "An investigation is underway and anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log 114 of 30/03/18."
