Announcing the jaw-dropping closure on Facebook yesterday, December 6, the firm said it's with 'great sadness' that it has to announce the closure of Sedgley Concord Market on January, 11, 2025, due to a 'number of factors'.
The company left the announcement by thanking all traders and customers over the last 48 years of trading in the market, and, wished all of its tenants the 'best' for the future.
The post lit up on Facebook with hundreds of likes, comments and shares, as most were devastated to see such a constant in the area set to be no more in just a matter of weeks.
Commenting on the post, Stacey Blundell, said: "Gutting. Had a great 10 year run in Concord and had some wonderful times and great laughs with our customers and fellow traders. Awful to see it close. Good luck to everyone having to leave."
Linda Welding, said: "It's a shame, we lived here for 32 years and it was there when we moved here, it was a very busy market when we moved here, sad loss to Sedgley."
Margaret Quinn, said: "So sad to hear this news. At one time you could get virtually everything in the market. Over the years it has changed and got smaller but the lovely stallholders who have been there and are still there always made you feel welcome and that your custom was appreciated. I wish all the stallholders the very best for the future."
