WMFS is urging people to avoid an area in Dudley if possible as their firefighters attend ‘a large fire’.

The blaze has broke out in a stable off Turls Hill Road in Sedgley. The warning was issued at around 2am this morning (Tuesday, October 15).

The fire service said they were called out shortly after 1.25am and found that the fire had spread to an area of the stables and outbuildings - with 80 per cent of the building affected.

Firefighters issued remorse as two horses died in the blaze.

Here's the latest statement from WMFS: "Shortly after 1.25am on Tuesday (15 October), we responded to Queens Road, Sedgley.

"Four fire engines from Dudley, Bilston, Tipton and Wolverhampton responded, the first arriving within five minutes of being mobilised.

"This fire affected an area of stables and outbuildings, measuring approximately 20m x 20m. Around 80% of the building was affected.

"Two main jets and a hose reel were used to extinguish the fire, which was confirmed to be out at around 6.50am. Crews were supported by drone operations.

"Very sadly, two horses died as a result of this fire.

Two fire engines remain at this incident, extinguishing hotspots. Fire Investigation Officers are in attendance."
