The ornamental tributes will serve to recognise the lives of RAF fighters Arthur Robert Cadman, Francis Peter Humphries and Charles Corbett Stevens.

They can be found in Kingswinford in the exact spots or close-by to where the men lived, including at Wyncroft House Care Home on Moss Grove and two private properties.

The project was set up with the help of Summerhill School to remember the lives of soldiers and airmen living in Wall Heath and Kingswinford who died during the First and Second World Wars.

The school, which is closely affiliated to the Royal British Legion in Kingswinford, is hoping to fund the installation of 108 plaques over the course of the next few years.

They have so far installed more than 20 plaques, raising around £2,500 of their £13,000 target by appealing to residents and businesses in the area.

Mike Glattback, assistant head teacher at the Lodge Lane school, said: "We are absolutely delighted with how it's progressing and just very grateful to the sponsors and the households who have allowed us to put the plaques on their property.

"I think the sacrifice that they made never needs to be forgotten and I think the local community in Kingswinford and Wall Heath is very passionate about preserving these local heroes.
