Ceremony marks spring opening of Kingswinford care home
A new three-storey care home in Kingswinford has had its 'topping out' ceremony ahead of opening this spring.
The New Bradley Hall will provide residential care, including specialist facilities to enable patient-centred care for people with dementia.
Guest of honour Councillor Dave Tyler, Mayor of Dudley, was on hand to lay the last brick marking the completion of exterior building work at the new purpose-built facility last week.
Black Country Housing Group (BCHG) rescued New Bradley Hall from closure and saved jobs in an innovative transfer deal with Dudley Council in February 2015.
Councillor Tyler, said: “I was very pleased to be invited to lay the last brick and be part of the topping-out ceremony at the new, New Bradley Hall. It will provide top quality living accommodation for residents and having spoken to many of them at the event, they told me about how excited they were about the move.”
The new home for residents aged over 55 years will consist of 66 high-quality bedrooms, each equipped with fully en-suite wet room facilities, a flat screen TV, refrigerator, telephone and full Wi-Fi service, while the building will additionally include an in-house cinema, café and a hairdressing salon.
The grounds will incorporate landscaped sensory gardens with outdoor seating for residents and their guests to enjoy, while the home itself will be staffed by a professional team of fully trained, dedicated carers.
Amanda Tomlinson, chief executive of Black Country Housing Group, said: “Today we reached an important landmark in the redevelopment of New Bradley Hall, which is a much-valued cornerstone of the community here in Kingswinford. By replacing the current deteriorating building with an outstanding new state-of-the-art facility, we will be able to deliver even better care for local people, in luxurious new surroundings.”
Special guests in attendance at the ceremony, including local councillors as well as residents and care home staff, were provided with entertainment including a performance by local belly dancer Nadia Issa.
New Bradley Hall has been redeveloped on behalf of BCHG by LNT Carehome developments who also built the 66-bedroom luxury care home, Gower Gardens in nearby Halesowen, also run by Black Country Housing Group.
