Katie Goddard is fundraising for the Blue Cross Charity, which helps to fund happy homes for abandoned or unwanted pets and provide treatment, by doing the Steps for Pets challenge.

Katie has to walk at least 10,000 steps each day throughout every day in April.

As she completes her daily steps, Katie will be joined by her dog Lacey for a walk around her local area, as well as a home stepping workout.

All of her steps are recorded at the end of the day, with the total being shared with supporters of the cause.

Speaking about the fundraiser, Katie said: "I am doing Steps For Pets with my rescue dog Lacey who is six-years-old and a Staffie dog. I got her from the Happy Staffie Rescue Centre in Kidderminster.

"I am doing 10,000 steps a day for the Blue Cross as they help all animals.

Goal

"I wanted to do the challenge to get healthy and get outside after being in lockdown.

"Originally, my goal was to raise £150 and have now passed that and have raised £170. Any contribution will make an impact, whether you donate £5 or £500. Every little bit helps

Katie is from Cradley and is a senior library assistant at Brierley Hill Library.

Emma Dudley, her friend, said: "She is very community orientated and always doing things to help others.

"I really think this is a lovely cause and what a nice way to give back and also keep healthy and active during the coming of of lockdown.

"I think sometimes the people trying to give back and work hard don’t get the recognition they deserve."

The fundraiser is open to the public, to donate to Katie's Steps For Pets challenge, visit her Facebook fundraising page.
