BMW driver flees as car overturns on Birmingham New Road

A car overturned but nobody was seriously injured when three cars crashed in the Black Country today.

The occupants of a BMW fled the scene in Coseley after it was involved in a smash with two other cars on Birmingham New Road at around 3pm.

Fire crews from Brierley Hill and Dudley rushed to the incident on the A4123 near the junction of Rookery Road alongside West Midlands Ambulance Service.

Police confirmed that no arrests had been made and no one was badly injured in the crash but said that the road had been closed.

A woman and two children were checked over by paramedics at the scene.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "Police were called to Birmingham New Road today following a collision involving three cars.

"The damaged vehicles are awaiting recovery and the road is closed at the junction with the Black Country Route.

"The occupants of a BMW involved in the crash fled the scene. No one has been seriously injured."

A rapid response paramedic unit and the West Midlands Care Team were also called to the smash.

A West Midlands Ambulance spokesperson said: "We were called at 2.58pm to reports of a car that had overturned.

"We sent one ambulance to the scene. We also sent a rapid response paramedic and the West Midlands Care Team.

"There were three cars involved, one of which had overturned. A woman and two children from one of the cars were being assessed. There were no apparent injuries."

Police said enquires are on-going and asked those with information to call them on 101 quoting log 1415 of 06/04/2018.
