Brierley Hill high street was hosting an event for the popular festival for the first time since it first began in 2013.

The day's festivities, which took place on Saturday between 11am and 4pm, included fairground rides, water boat rides and a variety of local stalls.

Organiser Steve Edwards, the chair of the Black Country festival, said thousands had descended on the High Street for the fair.

The 33-year-old added: "It went really really well, it was ram packed. It exceeded all our expectations.

"We had fairground rides, water boat rides for the kids and lots of stalls put on by people in the local community selling their local wares. The market was also buzzing.

"It was the first time the Black Country festival has had an event on Brierley Hill high street. It was organised by the festival in conjunction with Dudley Council.

"This was all about bringing the town back to life and allow the high street to flourish.

"It was a community organised event attended by the local community and ran by the local community. Everyone came together and celebrated the Black Country."

Asked about this year's festival, which has had events taking place throughout July, Mr Edwards added: "This year has been the best year ever. We are seeing great attendances at all our events and it just seems to be getting better and better."
