Charity concert in Dudley to commemorate end of war

A special concert to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War will be held in Dudley on Thursday (April 17).

The Concert for Peace will be held in Dudley College's Grand Hall, and will feature music, dance and poetry,, with entertainers from across the Commonwealth. 

The renowned Gentlemen Songsters male-voice choir will be performing, along with the Sweet Sensations gospel choir, big-band music from the Syd Lawrence Orchestra and a bhangra group.

The event, backed by the Richardson Brothers Foundation, will raise money for the Royal British Legion and Black Country Mental Health charity.

Jan Jennings, from the Richardson Brothers Foundation, said:“The Richardson family has a long-standing relationship with the military and they have supported the armed fForces for more than 40 years. 

"The foundation is delighted to back this concert for peace in Dudley that will mark such an historic anniversary.”

The concert, at the college's Broadway campus, starts at 7.30pm.
