The Castle in Dudley was closed at the weekend following the departure of the previous manager, but owner Admiral Taverns said it would be open again soon.

A spokeswoman for Admiral Taverns Proper Pubs division said: "Our operator at the Castle in Dudley took the decision to leave business so we'd like to take this opportunity to thank him for all his hard work.

"Whilst the pub is currently closed, we have successfully recruited a fantastic operator duo to take over the site who are looking to reopen the pub as soon as possible."

The pub in Castle Street was reopened on July 7, 2023, by then MP Marco Longhi after a £241,000 refurbishment.

The interior of the 1960s pub was converted to feature one large, open-plan room with a new bar, flooring, and fixtures, while the exterior was painted khaki and decorated with a mural of nearby Dudley Castle.

Matthew Gurney, operations director for Admiral's Proper Pubs division, hailed manager Lucy Jo Hickman 'a community hero'. He said at the time of the opening: "The refurbishment at The Castle looks fantastic – the team have worked really hard to ensure it is a success for the local community."
