Sonia Kumar urged ministers to get behind Dudley Canal Trust's plans to reopen the Seven Sisters caves beneath Wren's Nest National Nature Reserve.

She said the plan, which would see the vast labyrinth of limestone caverns opened to the public for the first time since 1967, would bring half a million extra visitors to the town during its first eight years.

Miss Kumar also urged MPs to consider booking an Easter break in Dudley during a Westminster Hall debate on tourism in the UK.

She asked tourism minister Sir Chris Bryant to support Dudley Canal Trust's proposals to reopen the vast underground labyrinth of tunnels for the first time since 1967.
