The Mill in Windmill Street, Upper Gornal is shut.

It is understood that the pub will reopen when a new licensee can be found.

Originally called The Windmill, the pub was opened by John Hyde in 1852. It was acquired by Holden's brewery in 1946, and became known as The Old Mill.

It was renamed just The Mill after a refurbishment in 2014.

The pub closed shortly after Christmas 2022 when the previous tenant left, but reopened in January 2023 as a managed pub.

It was built on or near the site of the former Rewardine windmill, which was later replaced by 'the new mill' in nearby Vale Street, which still stands today.

Holden's was contacted for comment.
