Three men were left trapped in the car after it landed upside down. They were pulled out by crews from Dudley Fire Station. A woman who was in the car managed to get herself out before firefighters arrived.

The crash, which was described as 'serious' by fire chiefs, happened around 2am and police remained at the scene for the next few hours.

The vehicle came to rest on the pavement, narrowly missing a front garden. It smashed through a fence outside the restaurant before coming to rest on its roof. The heavy smash left the car with major damage and debris was scattered all over the pavement.

The front of the silver car was caved in by the force of the impact and one of the front wheels torn off.

The road was closed while emergency teams dealt with the incident and waited for the damaged car to be removed.

A West Midlands Fire Service spokeswoman said: "We attended a crash in Clarence Street where a car had rolled onto its roof. We extricated three men and one woman self-extricated prior to our arrival.

"Crews made the area and the car safe."

Drivers were warned to avoid the area on Saturday morning as the road was closed.

A tweet from Dudley Fire Station said: "Clarence Street at junction of Moden Hill to Arcal Street, between Dudley and Sedgley, closed for next four hours following serious RTC overnight. Please avoid the area."
