Patient with swollen ankles had breasts examined by Dudley GP, court hears
A woman patient went to a Black Country doctor's surgery with swollen ankles and had her breasts examined by a trainee GP accused of sexually assaulting five women he was supposed to be treating, a jury heard.
She told the Wolverhampton Crown Court jury of her alleged ordeal at the hands of Amirul Haque and declared: "I was shocked and embarrassed."
The woman, who cannot be identified, had never been examined before by the 33-year-old, who was on a four-month placement at the surgery.
'This did not feel right'
She explained: "I said my ankles kept swelling and he checked them and took my shoes off.
"Then he said he wanted to examine my heart and asked me to get onto the bed. He didn't say why.
"Initially he pulled my top down from the neck and put the stethoscope at the top of my breast bone.
"Then he pulled my top up under my chin and started examining me again. This exposed by bra.
"Next he lifted my bra up and examined my breasts. He didn't ask if he could do that. I work in a hospital and know what an examination is like but this did not feel right.
"Then he pulled my trousers to the top of my pubic bone and examined round my belly button. My breasts were still out and my knickers and trousers were down.
"He asked me if I was in a relationship and if I had an active sex life. He didn't explain why he was asking those questions."

She said she was able to 'put herself straight' after being told to get off the bed and touch her toes.
When she did this he allegedly came up very close behind her as she bent over.
"He held my hips, pulled me back, pushed me forward and pulled me back again. I could feel he was right up against me. I was still bent over. His groin area was touching the left side of my bottom. I could feel him pushing against me."
The woman concluded: "I felt terrible. I shot up and when I was standing upright thought to myself ' what on earth are you doing' - but didn't say it.'
"He sat down and wrote me a prescription for water tablets and a blood test. I just needed to get out of the surgery."
Suspended
Haque was suspended after complaints about his behaviour from two women patients and was arrested four days later as the number of complainants reached five.
He said in a statement to police: "I deny all the allegations. Any touching of the patients would purely be for medical examination not sexual gratification."
Haque from Ladypool Road, Balsall Heath, Birmingham, denies five charges of sexual assault and the case continues.
