'He was loved so much': Father's heartbreaking tribute to Wolverhampton bridge fall victim Chris Brookes
A father has paid a heartbreaking tribute to his son who died after apparently falling from a bridge in Wolverhampton.
Chris Brookes, from Dudley, died after he was found with head injuries in a bus lane on the Wolverhampton Ring Road on Sunday.
Police believe he fell from the footbridge near the city's train station and his death is not being treated as suspicious.
Mr Brookes, 22, was a general assembler at Elta Fans in Kingswinford.
He has one daughter, three-year-old Layla Jade, and his partner Sarah Jayne is expecting the couple's first child together in January – a boy who will be named Chris Junior.
Mr Brookes' father Philip said: "He was loved so much by his friends and family.
"He's left a big hole in our hearts – we were all a very close family and are all devastated by what happened.
"We have been inundated with people wanting to pay their respects.
"A JustGiving page is live on Facebook and I would like to thank people for their donations."
Within 24 hours the JustGiving page has nearly hit its £3,000 target.
The page aims to 'get something made for remembrance' of Mr Brookes.
It says: "Chris left behind a beautiful daughter Layla Jade and an unborn son Chris Jr.
"His family and partner have been offered support by loads of people and kind words.
"Nothing will bring Chris back but he loved his family so much and this is a little way of us showing our support at a terrible time for all his family."
Police have confirmed Mr Brookes' death is not being treated as suspicious.
He was found lying motionless on the ground by the ambulance service at 3.30am on Sunday.
