The quartet, who work for Thomas Dudley Ltd, are taking on a four-day drive through 10 European countries for charity in a 2001 Nissan Almira, dressed in costumes, and will be DJing in every nation they visit.

And They are also aiming to set a world record with one of the group DJing in each of the 10 countries on the four successive days.

Tony Grimley, Thomas Dudley’s area sales manager for London, is also a DJ who has been honoured by the Ministry of Sound – and he hopes to break the world record. Mr Grimley is being accompanied by Daniel Mills, Anthony McDonagh and Steve Page on the taxing journey in a 2001 Nissan Almira.

The Pavestone Rally has been organised by Pavestone, a paving firm.

Contestants had to buy a road-legal car for under £500 and then don fancy dress for the duration of the trip, which promises to take them along some of ‘Europe’s greatest roads and cities’.

It started in Dover yesterday and will finish in Nice on Sunday.

They will travel through England, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Italy, Monaco and France.

Along the way, challenges have been set by the organisers which the contestants will tackle when they reach certain points on the route.

The event will raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust and Rainy Day Trust.

Before the four men set off, Thomas Dudley organised a fundraiser which raised £11,500.

By next Wednesday (sept13) they hope to have raised a total of £15,000.

Mr Mills said ‘anyone can write a cheque’ so the group instead wanted to take on a tough challenge in order to give back to good causes.

Mr McDonagh, area sales manager for the West Midlands, was the first to get into the driver’s seat.

He said: “I am extremely excited to take part in this worthy fundraiser, and even more so to be alongside fellow Thomas Dudley team members.”
