North America is home to no fewer than eighteen Birminghams - stretching from Canada’s Saskatchewan province, down the East Coast, through the Midwest and into the Deep South.

Joe Lycett’s new series explores the history of these different Birminghams.

The series launches on April 22 on Sky Max, and ahead of the series we spoke to Joe about the show as well as his favourite places to eat in the Birmingham he calls home.

Birmingham boasts one of the most vibrant food and drink scenes in the country (though we might be a little biased).

Whether you’re after an upscale fine-dining experience for a special occasion or a no-frills greasy spoon to kickstart your morning, Birmingham has something for everyone.

Joe told us: "The Early Bird café has an incredible brunch - truly top tier. I don't think you'd get better anywhere in the world. When I used to go to Australia to do tours, they' d do these amazing brunches and I'd think 'why can't they do this in Birmingham? But we do now at Early Bird."

2. Zindiya Streatery & Bar, Moseley

Joe said Zindiya has 'amazing Indian street food'. The venue also has great cocktails with lively interior details to enjoy.

3. Passing Fancies cocktail bar, Digbeth

Joe said: "Passing Fancies is an astonishing cocktail bar. I think they got voted one of the top cocktail venues in the world."

4. Santorini Greek Restaurant, city centre

Joe said: "It doesn't look like much on the outside, but it's so nice in there. It's open until 2am most days I think. Their halloumi wraps are ridiculous and also they do a bottle of red which is about £4.99."

5. The Wilderness, Jewellery Quarter
