The 21-year-old's 89th minute equaliser against Brighton at the weekend ensured the fan's wager came up trumps.

The man, from the Scottish Borders, picked seven teams to win their respective leagues at the start of the season – including Newcastle, who finished top after Villa drew with Brighton.

He won £60,734.38 from £10.

Jessica Bridge from bookmakers Ladbrokes said accumulator bets 'normally come agonisingly close but hit the crossbar in extra time'.

"Our customer now has 60,000 reasons to thank Jack Grealish for his vital goal last weekend," she said.

The man, who is in his 50s but did not want to be named, placed the bet before the start of the season.

The seven-fold accumulator bet predicted Newcastle, Sheffield United, Portsmouth, Celtic, Hibernian, Livingstone and Arbroath would all win their respective leagues.

For the bet to succeed, Newcastle had to better Brighton and Hove Albion's result on Sunday.

Grealish's late goal against Brighton ensured the bet was a winner, as Newcastle eased past Barnsley 3-0.
