Last year around 7,000 shoppers and visitors flocked to the festive town centre event and this time round the organisers are going all out to put a smile on everyone's faces.

The free winter wonderland extravaganza will be held on November 30 in the town centre Cannock. Attractions include lots of fun and games, prizes, a raffle character actors from Disney's animation movie Frozen, live bands, a huge inflatable grotto featuring the man who wears a red suit, popcorn, soft drinks, games, face painting, a snowboard simulator, a snowdome, a fun fair, candy floss and reindeers.

Chairman of the organising team Our Cannock, Rob Waring says: "It's going to to fabulous for the children. We are going all out with a big show this year. It's going Winter wonderland extravaganza switch-on.

"We have blown the budget. We've got a full-size snow dome coming, bucking reindeers, real reindeers, bands, food hampers, chocolate hampers. Loads of free gifts and prizes for the kids. This year we thought we'd do more for the children. Last year we saw footfall of more than 7,000 in the town for the show.

"There were tears in our eyes  because the families thought they would have to put their hands in their pockets to pay for items which they didn't need to do. So this year we're laying on even more free things for the children.

"We have a fantastic looking Father Christmas. He's the best and will be in the indoor shopping centre. It will all be a like a fairy tale land. The council been great. We've gone bigger on the illuminations because we've been investing in the show year on year by purchasing our own lights because it's cheaper than hiring them all.

"It's going to be lovely. It's all about the children. Our invitation to families is to bring the kids and the even bigger kids. We're also hoping the weather will hold up. It's all for the kids which is a lovely thing for the town to do."

Funding for this year's switch-on has come from Cannock Chase District Council and the government's UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Special guests will include Frozen characters Elsa and Ola and representatives from the town's McArthur Glen Designer Outlet based in Eastern Way. While the music is being organised by music venue The Station based in  Stafford Road.

The event will be open from midday-6pm. There will be some road closures.

Hednesford's Victorian Christmas Market & Lights will switched on December 7 from 10am - 6pm.
