Two new coronavirus deaths confirmed at region's hospitals
Two coronavirus deaths have been confirmed at two of the region's hospitals, in the latest figures.
It means the total number of Covid hospital deaths in the Black Country, Birmingham and Staffordshire increased to 7,569.
On top of this, a total of 1,390 people have died in the region's care homes after contracting coronavirus.
NHS England confirmed 20 further deaths on Friday, meaning 86,862 people have now died in the country's hospitals after testing positive for coronavirus.
One death was announced at the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, where a total of 2,605 people have now died. The trust runs the Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands, Solihull and Good Hope hospitals.
One death was also recorded at The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, where a total of 736 people have now died.
A total of 800 people have died at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and 720 at the Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust.
Meanwhile, 1,169 have been confirmed to have died at the Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, and 1,168 have died at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust.
A total of 38,189,536 vaccinations have been carried out across England to date – including first and second doses.
In the Midlands, 5,431,942 first doses of the coronavirus vaccine has been administered, while 1,834,506 second doses have been carried out.
The data includes vaccinations carried out between December 8 and April 24.
