One more Covid death in Walsall as UK toll rises by 70
One more coronavirus death has been confirmed in the Black Country as the UK death toll increased by 70.
The death at Walsall Manor Hospital means 7,505 people have now died with the virus in hospitals across the Black Country, Birmingham and Staffordshire.
Alongside this, a further 1,385 people have died in the region's care homes after contracting coronavirus.
Meanwhile the UK-wide death toll, which includes deaths within 28 days of a positive test, rose by 70 to 126,515 on Friday.
The death announced on Friday takes the number of Covid patients to have died at Walsall Manor to 717.
No new deaths were announced at any hospitals across the Black Country, Birmingham, Staffordshire or Worcestershire meaning the death tolls remain as follows:
Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, which runs Sandwell General and City Hospital: 1,156
Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, which runs New Cross Hospital: 795
The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Russells Hall: 729
University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, which runs Stafford's County Hospital and Royal Stoke: 1,369
University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Queen Elizabeth Hospital as well as Heartlands, Solihull and Good Hope hospitals: 2,577
As warnings over a forecasted lower supply of vaccinations continue, the number of people to have received a jab in the UK has reached 29,316,130.
Of these 3,009,863 have had a second dose.
