25 more coronavirus deaths in Black Country, Birmingham and Staffordshire hospitals
A further 25 coronavirus patients have died at hospitals in the Black Country, Birmingham and Staffordshire.
Figures released today by NHS England show that 3,659 people have now died in the region's hospitals after contracting Covid-19.
In care homes in the Black Country, Birmingham and Staffordshire at least 770 people have died with coronavirus since the pandemic began, although the true figure is likely to be higher as care home deaths have only been recorded since April 10.
In England, the NHS recorded 208 new deaths in hospitals on Sunday, bringing the death toll in the country's hospitals to 40,405. This includes deaths where the patient did not test positive but where coronavirus was included on the death certificate.
The UK-wide death toll, which only includes deaths within 28 days of a positive test, increased by 215 to 58,245.
Across the region
A total of 14 more deaths were announced at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, which runs County Hospital in Stafford and Royal Stoke University Hospital, taking the coronavirus death toll there to 607.
The trust has been under major pressure in recent weeks and has had to move patients to different hospitals as its critical care units neared capacity.
Five deaths were confirmed at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, which runs New Cross and Cannock Chase hospitals, where the death toll now stands at 371.

Another four deaths were recorded at the Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs Sandwell General and City hospitals, where the death toll reached 559.
And two deaths were announced at the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull hospitals, where the total stands at 1,336.
No new deaths were announced at the Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, which runs Walsall Manor Hospital, where 345 people have died.
There were also no new deaths recorded at the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Russells Hall Hospital, where the total remains at 353.
A spokesman for NHS England said: "A further 208 people, who tested positive for coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 40,405.
"Patients were aged between 39 and 100 years old. All except 13 (aged 56 to 86 years old) had known underlying health conditions.
"Date of death ranges from 25 October to 28 November 2020 with the majority being on or after 25 November.
"Their families have been informed."
