Coronavirus: 17 more deaths at Black Country, Birmingham and Staffordshire hospitals
A further 17 coronavirus patients have died in hospitals in the Black Country, Birmingham and Staffordshire.
It means a total of 3,202 people have died in the region's hospitals after contracting Covid-19 since the pandemic began.
NHS figures, released today, showed a further 190 people in England's hospitals had died – bringing the total to 36,512. The latest UK-wide death toll is yet to be released by the Government.
Six deaths were recorded at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Foundation Trust, which runs County Hospital in Stafford and the Royal Stoke University Hospital, where the trust’s death toll rose to 492.
Five deaths were recorded at the Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs Sandwell General and City hospitals, where the toll increased to 490.
Four people died at the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Russells Hall Hospital, where the total who have died is 320.
Two deaths were reported at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, which runs New Cross and Cannock Chase hospitals, where the death toll increased to 327.
No new deaths were announced at the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull hospitals, where the total stands at 1,195.
There were also no new deaths announced at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, which runs Walsall Manor Hospital, where the toll is 294.
A total of 739 people have died with the virus in care homes across the region, although care home deaths were only recorded from April 10 meaning the true death toll is likely to be higher.
A spokesman for NHS England said: "A further 190 people, who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 36,512.
"Patients were aged between 29 and 100 years old. All except three (aged 65-90) had known underlying health conditions.
"Date of death ranges from 19 October to 15 November 2020.
"Their families have been informed."
