Visit Walsall care homes but follow rules to keep relatives safe, bosses plead
People who want to visit their relatives in Walsall care homes have been told they are allowed but must follow strict guidelines.
Chiefs at Walsall Council have said family and friends wishing to visit residents must take extreme care.
Councillor Rose Martin said: "Every care home in Walsall is different with regards to its layout, facilities and environment and each resident will have varying needs in terms of their health and wellbeing.
More Covid-19 coverage:
"It is vital that this is all taken into consideration when visits are planned to ensure we protect our vulnerable residents as well as consideration of the staff working to support them."
Councillor Stephen Craddock added: "The basic principles and guidelines in the fight against Covid-19 must be taken into account if you intend to visit a relative in a care home during the coronavirus pandemic, especially as they will be amongst the most vulnerable in our community and we need to protect them.
"Both of my parents are in a care home so I understand that it is a difficult situation but it is very important to take the safety and wellbeing of your loved ones into account when considering a visit."
