A few bins were not collected

A number of employees at Serco, the Oldbury company responsible for waste collection for Sandwell Council, tested positive for Covid-19 – and were sent home to self-isolate.

No services were suspended but some residents experienced delays today to their collections due to the reduction of staff.

A spokesperson for Serco said: "A small number of our employees have tested positive for Covid-19. In accordance with government guidance some team members are also self-isolating while awaiting tests.

"No services have been suspended as a result, but some residents may experience delays to their collections.

"If the bins in your street were not collected, please bear with us – we had crews working on Saturday to catch up on these collections and will target any other outstanding bins today (Monday)."
