15 more coronavirus deaths confirmed in Black Country, Birmingham and Staffordshire
Fifteen more coronavirus deaths have been confirmed at hospitals in the Black Country, Birmingham and Staffordshire.
The deaths, announced by the NHS on Saturday, mean 2,814 people have now died with Covid-19 in the region's hospitals since the pandemic began.
At least 717 people have also died with the virus in the region's care homes.
The 15 deaths confirmed on Saturday included five in Staffordshire, seven across Sandwell and Birmingham, two in Dudley and one in Wolverhampton.
In total the NHS announced 208 more coronavirus deaths in England on Saturday, with the patients aged between 26 and 101.
The youngest person to die who did not have a known underlying health condition was aged 47.
The UK-wide death toll, which includes deaths in and out of hospitals within 28 days of a positive test, increased by 326 to 46,555 on Saturday while the country also recorded its one millionth case.
The latest deaths were confirmed ahead of Boris Johnson's announcement that England will be entering into a one-month lockdown from Thursday.
Across the region
Five more deaths were confirmed at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, which runs Stafford's County Hospital and Royal Stoke University Hospital, taking the death toll at the trust to 398,
Five deaths were also confirmed at the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust, which runs Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull hospitals, taking the death toll there to 1,076.
Two deaths were announced at the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Russells Hall Hospital, where 286 patients have died.
Two deaths were announced at the Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs Sandwell General and City hospitals, where the toll stands at 426.
And one more death was announced at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, which runs New Cross Hospital, where the death toll is now at 308.
No new deaths were announced at the Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, which runs Walsall Manor, where 247 coronavirus patients have died.
Over in Worcestershire, one further death was confirmed at the county's acute hospitals NHS Trust, where 291 patients have died.
