Thirteen more coronavirus patients have died in hospitals across the Black Country, Birmingham and Staffordshire.

Thirteen more people have died locally

Four people have died in Dudley, four in Birmingham, two in Sandwell, two in Staffordshire and one in Walsall.

It takes the death toll at hospitals across the region from Covid-19 to 2,688.

No deaths were announced today in Wolverhampton NHS Trust hospitals.

The number of Covid-19 deaths in care homes in the region has also risen by three to 708. Two residents died last week in Sandwell, and one in Staffordshire.

Across hospitals in England a further 134 people, who tested positive for coronavirus, have died bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths to 31,181.

Patients were aged between 36 and 100 years old. All except six – aged 68-91 – had known underlying health conditions.

The dates of death ranges from October 13 to 19 and their families have been informed.

Four more patients died at Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, where the total stands at 275.

Four more people also died at the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust, where the death toll is now at 1,041.

Two patients died at the Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, which runs Sandwell and City hospitals. The total now stands at 401.

And two people also died at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, which runs Stafford County and Stoke Royal hospitals. The death toll there is 367.

One patient died at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, where the death toll is now at 235.

The total remains at 297 at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, which runs New Cross and Cannock Chase hospitals.
