Two more coronavirus deaths reported in Wolverhampton and Birmingham

Two more coronavirus deaths have been reported at hospitals in the Black Country and Birmingham.

Two more deaths have been reported

One patient has died in Wolverhampton, and one in Birmingham, NHS figures released today revealed.

It puts the Covid-19 death toll at hospitals in the area at 2,642.

It comes as a further 32 people, who tested positive for coronavirus have died nationally, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 30,471.

Patients were aged between 54 and 100 years old. All but one, aged 65, had known underlying health conditions.

Date of death ranges from March 28 to October 10, with the majority on or after October 8.

Their families have been informed.

There has been one new death at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, which runs New Cross and Cannock Chase Hospitals, taking the total to 294.

And another new death at the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust – taking the total to 1,023.

No new deaths were reported at other hospital trusts in the region.

At Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, which runs Sandwell and City hospitals, 394 coronavirus patients have died.

At the Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, which runs Walsall Manor Hospital – 231 people have died.

A total of 268 people have died at Dudley Group NHS Trust, which runs Russells Hall Hospital.

And the death toll at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, which runs Stafford County and Stoke Royal hospitals, stands at 361.

A further 705 people have died in care homes across the Black Country, Birmingham and Staffordshire.
