Four part-time staff from the Wolverhampton Healthwatch group are set to move into the Civic Centre imminently.

The group was set up to give a voice for residents who have concerns about health and social care issues.

Councillor Paul Singh, vice-chairman of Wolverhampton Council's health scrutiny panel, said moving into the authority's headquarters would not only save money, but also give its staff greater and more timely access to both council social care colleagues, but also to NHS staff who are also located at the centre.

Councillor Singh said ongoing financial pressures meant the council had to reduce the council's contribution to the group.

But allowing it to move into the Civic Centre meant its costs could be reduced, without affecting services.

Councillor Singh said: “Healthwatch is a vital service, ensuring that residents have a strong voice when it comes to their health and social-care needs.

"Whether it's helping individuals access the right support or carrying out important work on issues like GP appointments, their role is invaluable.

"We are pleased that Healthwatch Wolverhampton will soon be based at the Civic Centre, which will enhance their collaboration with both social care colleagues and NHS partners, including the Integrated Care Board and the Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

"The Council is committed to making sure that no one is left behind when it comes to accessing health and social care, and we look forward to continuing our positive relationship with Healthwatch to improve services for the people of Wolverhampton."
