Around 16 firefighters rushed to the three-storey block of flats in Escelie Way, in the Selly Oak area of the city, at 9.28pm on Wednesday (January 29).

No one was hurt in the blaze, with a number of residents evacuated from the building before the arrival of fire crews, a West Midlands Fire Service spokesman said.

Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and tackled the fire from inside and outside the property.
