Work on Midland Metropolitan Hospital likely to re-start in January
Work to complete the delayed Midland Metropolitan Hospital is expected to start in January.
The £475 million super hospital has been stalled for two years following the collapse of Carillion.
But after contracts were finally agreed with Balfour Beatty to complete the job earlier this month, the workforce should be up and running again during January.
Balfour has carried out remedial work on the site at Grove Lane, Smethwick, over the last year but the hospital is no nearer completion than when Carillion went bust in January 2018.
The expected January re-start means health bosses will be a little behind schedule, as it had been hoped work would get under way again during December but it remains the aim to have the Midland Met open by spring 2022.
