Work starting on new home for two GP practices at £6m centre
Work is set to start on a new £6 million medical centre which will see two existing practices move to the Sandwell Hospital site.
The new surgery will be built next to the hospital as part of a plan to streamline and improve medical care in the borough, with work to start this month.
It will house Caters Green Medical Centre and Lyndon Health Centre, which are both relocating to the new facility, to be run by the Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust and serve more than 15,000 patients.
There will also be a pharmacy adjacent to the site.
Carters Green is currently based on High Street, West Bromwich, while nearby Lyndon Health Centre on Parsonage Street.
Dr James Gwilt, a GP based at Carters Green, said: "We are looking forward to continuing this tradition of high quality care in a brand new, modern environment.
"Being on the Sandwell Hospital site will give us the opportunity to deliver care in new ways, better integrated with other organisations working in our area.
"This is an exciting time for colleagues in the practice and the people we serve.”
