The Walsall Council service remaining free of charge bucks the trend compared to the six local authorities which neighbour Walsall borough.
At the lower end of the scale, residents living under Cannock Chase District Council must pay an annual fee of £38.50 for the garden waste collection service.
Residents must pay £40 per year in Wolverhampton and Sandwell, and £61.80 in Birmingham - the highest fee of Walsall’s six neighbours.
The garden waste collection service across the borough of Walsall during 2024 cost the council £1,150,000.
Portfolio holder for street pride, councillor Kerry Murphy, warned residents that they must only place certain items in the brown bin for the service to remain free of charge.
Flowers, plants, grass cuttings, hedge and tree clippings, leaves and weeds can go in the brown bin.
Councillor Kerry Murphy said: “With spring upon us we are proud to provide this free service for our residents, distinguishing ourselves from other local councils who charge for collections.
“The schedule for these collections can be checked online, and for anyone who is struggling to find the information, we can help through our Walsall Connected sites or over the phone.
“I would urge residents to be vigilant in avoiding contamination of their brown bins, as this cooperation is integral to maintaining our cost-free service.”
Collections across the borough will take place fortnightly up until the week commencing October 20, 2025.
