Uncut trees creating 'dark and dangerous' roads, says Dudley councillor
Cost cutting across is leaving residents in Dudley's "leafy suburbs" fearing for their safety due to unpruned trees, it has been claimed.
Upper Gornal and Woodsetton councillor Adam Aston believes his ward has "the darkest road" in the borough due to a canopy of overhanging trees.
Councillor Aston believes Tudor Road's trees could create hazardous conditions for pedestrians and create a flooding hotspot due to drains being blocked by leaves.
He said: “I’m regularly contacted by constituents to report overgrown trees which belong to the council. Tudor Road effectively has a roof on it where the branches of huge beech trees meet in the middle, leading to some folk living in constant darkness.
