Family in 700-year-old house riverside house explain how floods affect their home
A couple has opened up about owning a house that was originally built over 700 years ago.
Sam and Chanel Mills, of Bewdley, Worcestershire, couldn't believe their luck when they purchased the address at numbers five, seven and nine on Stourport Road, Wribbenhall. Becoming the proud owners of one of Bewdley's oldest houses.
The house was originally built in 1310, originally being listed as part of the manor of Kidderminster, before being split into three different abodes, which the Mills family purchased at an auction as their family home on August 1 last year.
Speaking about owning the old house, Sam Mills, 29, from Bewdley, said: "We actually got the place for cheaper than it should have been, probably because of the constant flooding and lack of parking. But so far it has been a lovely house. We really love it.
"I was originally born in Bewdley, so I knew about the house anyway, when I saw it up for auction I knew I had to go for it. It is a really great house."
The house, which resides on the banks of the River Severn, is prone to constant flooding, with the Mills family experiencing a number of floods since purchasing it in August.
