Bridgnorth duo get down and dirty cleaning signs on Valentine's Day
Roses are red, but those signs are not pearly. Fear not good people, for here come Dave and Shirley.
Similar verses could be heard from the lips of those in Bridgnorth on Valentine's Day after Dave Page and partner Shirley Rutter spent their morning cleaning road signs that welcome visitors into the town.
Regular litter pickers, the demonstrative duo said they hoped their community spirited actions, which received more than 1,000 interactions online, would inspire others to take more care of their surroundings.
Bridgnorth resident Dave, 51, said: "Every few days I go out litter picking and try and get as much as I can.
"On Saturday my partner Shirley put a post on Facebook as we'd gone up and down the Hermitage and somebody said 'great effort, shame about the signs as they look filthy and don't give off a good impression to people visiting the town'.
"The next day we spent a few hours cleaning the signs and put a little post on Facebook and it took off from there."
Dave had recently joined the Bridgnorth Litter Picking Club and hopes the town can come together to keep the area tidy.
"We're hoping people will pick up on this and it will inspire them a little," he said.
"If everyone picked up a few items of litter that would make such a big difference."
Dave met Shirley, a regular fundraiser for breast cancer, the day he moved to Bridgnorth and said they had been with each other ever since.
