Car smashes into garden wall in West Bromwich
A car smashed into the garden wall of a family home in the Black Country after veering off the road.
The couple living in the house in Lones Road, West Bromwich, had returned home from a day out with their grandchildren just moments before the crash happened.
No one was injured in last night's crash.
Grandmother-of-two Lynda Brown said: "We had just pulled up on the drive and got into the house after a day out at Sandwell Farm.
"Then we heard a loud bang and came outside to see a car had hit our garden wall.
"The wall has been pretty badly damaged.
"We were so lucky though. If it had been just a couple of moments earlier, myself and my grandchildren would have been getting out of our car on the driveway.
"I am so glad nobody was injured."
Mrs Brown was in the house with her husband Kennedy, as well as grandchildren Amara, aged five, and 18-month-old Jasmine, who were spending the day with them.
"Some of the debris flew from the wall and it could have gone through our patio window," she added.
"Thankfully, it didn't though.
"I just want my wall to be repaired though."
The house sits at a crossroads and it is not the first time cars have caused damage to the Brown's property.
A few months ago, the family's car was struck by another vehicle when parked outside their home.
Police and firefighters were called to help remove the BMW from the wall after it crashed at around 5.30pm yesterday.
Firefighters from Smethwick disconnected the engine to make it safe.
Highways teams were also called to help clear up the debris.
Residents spilled out on to the street to watch the drama unfold.
