Walsall College's nursery rated good by Ofsted
A Black Country college’s nursery has been praised for its ‘caring and warm’ staff who give lots of praise to children.
Little Professors Nursery, based at Walsall College on Littleton Street, has been rated good by education watchdog Ofsted.
Its leadership, quality of teaching, personal development and outcomes for children were all rated as good.
A report prepared after Ofsted inspectors visited the nursery states: “Staff are well qualified.
"They are deployed effectively throughout the nursery to ensure that ratios of adults to children are maintained at all times.
“Staff provide a well-resourced, stimulating, and welcoming environment.
"Children make good progress in their learning.
"Staff plan and provide a range of interesting activities that meets the needs and interests of all the children attending.
“Children develop secure attachments with staff. Staff give children lots of praise and reassurance, and encourage children to behave well.
“Staff are caring and warm, and have high expectations for all children.
“Safeguarding is given high priority.
"The management team is rigorous in its approach to safeguarding children.
"Staff are well trained and confident in safeguarding procedures, helping to ensure all children are safe and well protected.”
However, the nursery is not yet rated outstanding because ‘staff professional development is not sharply focused on raising the quality of teaching to the highest level’ and ‘managers and staff are not consistently effective in sharing information with parents about their children’s next steps in learning’.
The nursery has said it is ‘delighted’ with the recent Ofsted report and continues to ‘strive to be outstanding’.
Gemma Earp, the manager of the nursery, said: “We are delighted to have maintained our grade 2 rating.
"We are committed to providing a stimulating and nurturing environment with a high standard of care and education to ensure children progress well in their learning, and we are pleased that this has been recognised by Ofsted.
“We are always looking at ways to improve our provision and strive to be outstanding.”
