Students studying professional cookery and patisserie and confectionery at Halesowen will be designing and cooking a dish, which will be used in the college’s own restaurant – Bistro at B63.

Learners will cost their dish, take a photo of it and then send it in with an email describing their creation.

Champion chef Stuart Deeley will help lecturer Chris Hughes choose the best eight entrants.

Students will be taking part in a live cook-off after the Easter break.

Mr Hughes said: “This competition is through Stuart Deeley’s professional chefs academy in college.

“It is great to have Stuart’s support to pick the best dishes.

“This will really get our Level 2 learners thinking about their skills, ingredients and coming up with something really special.

“They will be mentored by Jack Gameson, from college, who has extensive national competition experience.”

The college and cutlery maker, Grunwerg, are sponsoring the competition.

The partnership means students can win additional equipment, cookery books and vouchers for taking part.
