New nursery for primary school gets the go-ahead
Exciting plans for a new nursery at at a primary school in the Black Country have moved a step closer after planning permission was granted.
The nursery will enable Goldsmith Primary Academy in Harden, Walsall, to provide space for an additional 32 children aged two to four.
Designed by Baily Garner, the nursery’s design accommodates space for both whole-class and small group activities, a new playground and an inclusive environment for children with special educational needs.
Building work is due to start in spring 2021 with the planned opening of the nursery in autumn 2021.
Planning permission was granted by Walsall Council.
Leanne Bridgwood, headteacher at Goldsmith Primary Academy, said she was delighted the plans were approved.
“This is fantastic news and a significant step in bringing the project to reality,” she said.
“We are delighted that the plans were accepted – this is a credit to the team at our school, Windsor Academy Trust and our project design consultants Baily Garner.
“The new nursery will build upon the excellent care that we provide in our existing nursery, develop an outstanding learning environment and offer much-needed space to support additional children in the local community,” she said.
Will Gregory, project lead at Baily Garner, added: “This is great news for the school and Trust. We at Baily Garner are really looking forward to delivering this scheme in partnership with Windsor Academy Trust and Goldsmith Primary Academy to create a quality learning environment for the local community.”
