Tackling Daily Mile for health at Staffordshire school
Staying fit and healthy is still a high priority at one school – and teachers have made sure safety measures are in place to protect children from coronavirus while they do so.
Pupils at Landywood Primary School in Great Wyrley are taking part in national programme The Daily Mile – and hope to cover enough steps to go around the world.
The Daily Mile encourages children to walk, jog or run, at their own pace, for 15 minutes every day to help improve physical, emotional and social health and wellbeing.
It is carried out at schools across the UK.
Every day at Landywood, every child has time out of the classroom to participate.
Given the current circumstances with social distancing, staff are still prioritising this important programme.
Headteacher Andrew Clewer said: “The Daily Mile is a great way of children improving their physical health, increasing their concentration and achieving higher levels of learning.”
