Ex-leader steps up call to save Stourbridge College
The former leader of Dudley Council has stepped up his fight to save Stourbridge College.
Pete Lowe has tabled a motion for the authority to acknowledge the "damaging impact" of the loss of the college.
The Stourbridge ward councillor has called on Birmingham Metropolitan College (BMet), which runs the Hagley Road site to "immediately cease the planned closure" and hold talks with unions.
Stourbridge College is set to close in the summer and students moved to Dudley and Halesowen colleges after cash-strapped BMet announced it intended to sell off the site.
A sign saying ‘Save our college’ has gone up in a window above the main entrance.
Councillor Lowe said BMet should “fully engage with Dudley Council, appropriate community groups, students and the wider community”.
