Those were the words of murder suspect Amy Pugh as she phoned for an ambulance for her husband.

The 34-year-old, of Wolverhampton, is accused of murdering Kyle Pugh and is standing trial at Stafford Crown Court.

Mr Pugh was discovered with serious injuries by paramedics at his wife’s home in Aston Drive, Newport on March 23, 2022. He later died at Princess Royal Hospital, Telford.

Prosecutors say she inflicted the injuries that killed him before faking his suicide and playing the part of a “concerned” wife in a dramatic phone call with an ambulance service call handler, saying that Mr Pugh had hanged himself.

Mr Pugh and the defendant were married but were separated at the time, and he had a new girlfriend.

Julian Evans KC, prosecuting, went through excerpts of the call with a police analyst in front of the jury. She told the call handler Mr Pugh had used a belt to hang himself.

“My husband’s dead, like, on a level,” she said. “He’s hung himself. He is f***ing dead.”
