Every year the West Midlands Police dog unit takes part in the competition which showcases the skills of its four-legged crime fighters and their handlers.

Today is the start of the popular televised show organised by the prestigious Kennel Club at Birmingham NEC.

The force will be providing demonstrations in the main arena, man a stand showcasing the work of the unit's officers and staff and train the dogs. Some of police puppies will also be attending as part of their environmental training.

The officers have also released a new video of some of the projects the pawsome dogs have been doing over the last 12 months.

Motorists heading through the area or the show are being urged to give themselves extra time due to roadworks and congestion.

West Midlands Roads posted on X, formerly Twitter: "@WMRoads #Crufts2025 begins today and runs until Sunday March 9 at the NEC. Expect an increase in traffic along the M42 and A45 corridors around the NEC.

"Drivers using the #M42 should allow extra time due to roadworks along the route."
